The laptop I use is a Gateway model M 6332. I wasn't able to find this model's release date, and I was sad that I couldn't find it. Instead, I went to my mom and asked her when she bought the laptop. She told me she got it around 2007-2008. That means this laptop is 6-7 years old, about to be 7-8 years!
For those techy nerds, you can click here for it's specs.
Are you crying yet? I honestly don't know, I don't know how bad this laptop actually is. All I know is, this laptop makes it kinda hard for me to do anything. This is especially true since my major requires me to use Adobe programs on a weekly basis, and I can't even use demos of adobe programs because the require Windows 7 or higher. I have to use a program that allows me to use them remotely on my laptop. Even then, everything runs slowly. Don't even get me started on trying to game on this laptop, or should I say "notebook"?
This laptop simply isn't meant for anything intense. It was probably meant for leisurely use, maybe for business use if all they plan to use are slideshows and other Microsoft Office stuff.
There are so many games I have on my Steam that I want to play, but I can't because it lags like nobody's business. No Bit.Trip games, no spiffy Sonic games, no MMORPG's. There are so many things that are cut off from my list that I can't play, and it really makes me sad. I have been sad that I haven't been able to play those games, but now it's coming more apparent of a problem.
First of all, I want to be able to play games for you guys and tell you about all fun I have. Second of all, my major is going to call for me to use more power-intensive programs all-around. I am a Multimedia Design and Development major with a concentration in Web game programming. There are quite a bit of Facebook games that run slow on my computer. If the games themselves run slow, how is it going to be when I'm going to need the programs to design those games on this?
I need a new computer. Not a laptop either, a desktop. My TV has the ports, so it could also double as a monitor. So all I would need is a computer, wireless keyboard, and a wireless mouse. I don't know the necessary specs that I would need for me to be able to do what I need it to do, as well as what I want it to do, really well.
All I know is that it needs to be fast and powerful enough for designing(specifically game programming and animation), as well as good for playing games like Skyrim or MMO's. It needs to be able to hold a lot of memory as well. I also like to use a wireless headset, so it also should have enough USB slots to cover all my wireless gear, as well as slots on top of that for flash drives/memory sticks. It needs SD slot for when I want to transfer music from my computer to my phone, or pictures from my phone to my computer. Most importantly, it needs to be a good deal. My mom's wallet isn't necessarily big, so the less expensive it is the better.
If you find any good deals on computer towers that can perform to what I need it to, let me know. It will be highly appreciated. With that, have a great day. :)
