Discontinue the Wii U?

Some people believe that it is a good idea for Nintendo to completely discontinue the Wii U and make a new gaming system. I personally believe that would be a stupid move for Nintendo to do. I would be mad, since I want a Wii U but can't get one right now. I definitely want a Wii U way more than a PS4 or an Xbox One.

I think people are looking at the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One, and think that the Wii U should be the same as those systems. I don’t think those people realize that we are talking about Nintendo, not Microsoft or Sony. If people want a system like an Xbox One or PS4, those people should get an Xbox One or a PS4.The Wii U may not be as powerful as the Xbox One and the PS4, but it's a lot better than the Wii.

Nintendo caters towards a family-friendly audience. Their games were safe for everyone to play, regardless if you were casual or a hardcore gamer, and that is still the case (Note, I am talking about first party games, not third party games).

Now if you believe the family-friendly audience is just a bunch of "pathetic casual gamers", you are most likely apart of the “hardcore gamer anti-Nintendo” crowd. I have two things to say to those people.

First of all, that is rude and arrogant of you, on top of the fact that you insulted all families and casual gamers everywhere. That is bad, and you should feel bad.

Second of all, yes and duh!

Their target audience is families, and has always been families, and always will be families. The families are going to be the ones that generate the most money, since most likely at least one parent in the household will have a full-time job, if not both parents, and thus could afford the Wii U if they wanted to(if you can buy a house, a full-screen TV, and furniture, you can afford any system). It's the parents that are going to want their children to play video games that aren't bloody and gory, or have mature themes. Because of this, you're never going to see a first party game from that that plays like Call of Duty, Gears of War, or Grand Theft Auto V. Because there won’t be any FPS-heavy games, the Wii U doesn't need as much power as a Playstation 4 or Xbox One needs. For what Nintendo is best at, they have perfect amount of power. Could it use more power? More power is always better, but it isn't necessary for right now.

Nintendo will make a better system sooner or later. It’s only been one year since the system was released, and people are already demanding a new system from them. Do they think making a new system is easy? It takes more than a year to concept, create, and playtest a new system, let alone mass produce it.

What about the people that have a Wii U? Do those people not care who suffers as long as they get "MOAR POWAR"? Society is getting to the point that they think they are –entitled- to demand and receive anything they want from companies and expect them to beckon to their call on a whim. Those people need to realize that they personally aren't entitled to ANYTHING from Nintendo. Nintendo isn't any one person’s personal slave that has to listen to any of their personal demands. Nintendo is going to work at their own pace whether the people like it or not.

I don't know about you, but I play on Nintendo systems for Nintendo games. If I want a 3rd party game, I'll play on my Xbox 360. A lot of 3rd party games (not all of them, I will stress) on the Wii weren't that good. All the Nintendo games were amazing. For what the Wii U has, it has fantastic first party games. That's what they are good at. People need to stop trying to force Nintendo to fit into the standards of what aren’t good at. There are plenty of third party games on the Xbox One and the Playstation 4, it’s not like the Wii U is the only system available.

As for the first party games and the lack of them, Nintendo is making more games for the Wii U! Nintendo isn't a bunch of robots that can pop out a game every month. It takes TIME to create a video game, and it takes even more to make a video game of great quality.

If the people still want to argue that Nintendo had time to make more games, then I would like to see those people create a video game. Go make a video game with just as many levels as Super Mario 3D World, with 3D graphics, great level design, unique game mechanics, different game character play styles, awesome soundtrack(IE, a different song for every world, not just one song for the whole game), and put it out in a few months. Oh, and it has to run smoothly, have no bugs, any story involved has to make sense, and has to be family friendly(so it can't be stupidly hard, and can't be a bloody shooter like Call of Duty). When you can do that, THEN you have the right to complain.

Besides, there are already a billion games out there already you can play. I highly doubt that everyone has played every single game out on the market. If you haven't then you don’t have a reason to complain. You can go play other games that are on the market. If you HAVE played every game on the market, I'm scared for your life. You might have problems sir or madam (or both?), and you might have a bad addiction. This is probably a good sign that you should take a break and get some fresh air, and maybe consider that you should go get some help.

With that, I hope you have a great day. J
